Over 4,000 delegates on Day 1 and over 200 exhibitors participate in Cloud Expo Asia and Data Centre World Asia 2014 in Singapore

Singapore, 29 October, 2014 - Held for the second time in Singapore, Asia Pacific's largest two-day cloud and data centre event, Cloud Expo Asia 2014 and Data Centre World 2014 - October 29th & 30th, Suntec City Convention Centre - was attended by over 4,000 unique delegates, which is double last year's entire attendance.

Cloud Expo Asia 2014 was opened by Mr. Khoong Hock Yun, Assistant Chief Executive of the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA), who announced IDA's robust plans to drive cloud adoption in Singapore. According to Mr. Khoong, ?The demand for cloud services remains strong in Singapore, with the results showing cloud spending among enterprises at S$512 million in 2013. This is expected to rise to S$920 million by 2018?.

Supported by enhancements to their Cloud Service Provider Registry (CSP) and Multi-Tier
Cloud Security (MTCS) certification system and by refining the Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC), IDA is committed to tackling one of the largest impediments to cloud adoption - security, Mr Khoong told a standing room-only keynote theatre. With the implementation of stricter guidelines, greater funding and grants from SPRING, IDA is confident of raising trust through transparency for the sector, maximising cost-management and ultimately transforming Singapore into the world's very first Smart Nation, he added.

Cloud Expo Asia also hosted an insightful financial track this year starting with Leon Perera, Chief Executive Officer of Spire Research and Consulting, discussing how financial institutions can spearhead the cloud adoption, subsequently encouraging other industries like transport and manufacturing to take the lead. In Data Centre World Asia 2014, ANZ's speaker Ishak Hendrawan presented on how to transform the modern data centre by utilizing the underlying principles of build-integrate-discover to improve financial services around the world.

The keynote speech by Teresa Carlson, Vice President of Amazon Web Services, praised the cloud's ability to improve agility, cost-effectiveness and transparency in the global world. According to her, cloud can introduce disruptive innovation in the public sector, as well as improve research and education. For example, she quoted the infinite potentials of cloud in enhancing the mapping process in the Human Genome Project.

At Cloud Security Alliance Summit, part of Cloud Expo Asia 2014, Prabir Sen, Chief Data
Scientist of the Data Sciences Group, emphasized how useful data analytics is in drawing
insights, extracting learnings and applying it to puzzles that need to be solved in the evolving digital age. However, he notes that cloud-adopters need to creatively establish exactly how they are going to drive the value of that data.

Michael Wescott, director and co-founder of CloserStill Media, organiser of Europe's top cloud and data centre events in London and Frankfurt, commented ?Cloud Expo Asia 2014 is even bigger and better received than last year's stunning inuagural event. The response from the cloud and data centre community has been overwhelming second time around. This is a clear indication that there is significant hunger among enterprises across the region for education, information, and new ideas to drive cloud-powered businesses forward. The key difference this year is that delegates have come armed with specific needs and are much more engaged with both the education and exhibitors. The memorandum of understanding signed by IDA today also illustrates the gaining stature of the event and demonstrates the importance of the event in the industry calendar.?

Testimonials from vendors and visitors alike share the enthusiasm for Cloud Expo Asia's
influential reach. Jakrit Negi, Practice Lead of Virtualisation and Cloud for Dell, said: ?This is a very good platform for vendors like Dell to interact with our potential customers and clients and showcase our solutions.?

Jonathan Chua, a delegate and founder of Duration Inc., says, ?This is my first time here. I love it. It's very useful for anybody in IT, especially if you are looking to not only know what is going on in the industry at the current moment but to also improve on your current infrastructure, on your current products, on your current tools that you use, whether it is B-2-B or B-2-C. What's great about it is that you get to meet people who provide the services that you are actively looking for. You can see a lot of people who provide similar services and do comparisons on price, service, or features as opposed to hunting them down online. I'm speaking to sales people, and engineers who could really answer my questions without the delay of emails or waiting for someone to call me back. I'll definitely be back next year.?

Ramona Lam, Sales Manager of hkcolo.net, an exhibitor, notes: ?There are a lot of right targets here ? the COOs, the CEOs - they are all coming here.?
